Beas Kund trek is one of the most popular and beautiful trek in Kullu Valley. Beas Kund is a holy lake where Rishi Vyas took his daily bath. River Beas originates from here. Solang Nalla base camp is 13 km from Manali and 1 hour drive, a popular place for tourists for ski slopes, para gliding etc. Dhundhi camp gives first glimpse of Mt. Hanuman Tibba and Seven Sisters. Beas Kund area might be full of snow at the time of this trek. This is enjoyable and easy going trek for any age group and and no prior trekking experience is required to join in.

Beas Kund at 11,600 ft in Himachal Pradesh (Land of Snow Mountains) is the perfect destination for an enjoyable and relaxed five days ultimate high altitude trek.

A place of historical significance, Beas Kund is one of the most beautiful places in the Dhauladhar range (literally ‘the white range’) of the mighty Himalayas. Besides being regarded as sacred, Beas Kund is where the river Beas originates from and offer spectacular views of the nearby located Shitidhar, Ladakhi, Friendship and Hanuman Tibba peaks. One of the most alluring treks in the Kullu region, the trail offers panoramic views of the Pir Pangal range as well, and follows the banks of the river Beas. This is one of the most popular short treks through the Solang valley and takes you through an expanse of picturesque mountain landscapes.


Caution & Remarks:

  • Even though participants do not need to submit any health certificates those with a history of medical problems, particularly cardiac or respiratory, should consult a doctor before undertake the trip.
  • Individuals with allergies and minor health issues should carry appropriate prescribed medication.
  • Avoid medication such as sleeping tablets, sedatives, strong painkillers, and anti histamines as these depress the respiration and increase the risk of (AMS - Acute Mountain Sickness), especially while asleep.
  • Smoking and alcoholic beverages not allowed during the trek.
  • Participants are advised to purchase travel insurance that provide care and services for sickness, accidents, emergency rescue.
  • Leave behind a copy of the trip itinerary and contact details with friends or home for emergencies.

A Five Days High Altitude Trek for Mountain Lovers

Day 1: Manali to Shikhar Par

Reporting Time: 06 am to 10 am
  • Drive of 4 Kms from Manali to Shikhar Par for a comfortable home like stay

Day 2: Burwa-Shikhar Par to Dhundi Glacier

Altitude: 10,800 ft
Time taken: 4 to 5 hours, 7 km

Today's trek takes us over loosely held boulders and moraines with beautiful ice bridges/ glaciers at places. We continue up to a scenic campsite at the pastures of Dhundi Glacier which is a high-altitude meadow and literally means ‘shepherd’s field’. These enchanting meadows are very popular pastures for the Gaddis – a hardy nomadic tribe of shepherds, and it’s easy to find flocks of sheep grazing peacefully in this pastoral idyll. These sun and wind swept meadows will be a feast for your senses. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 3: Dhundi Glacier – Bakarthach

Time taken: 4 to 5 hours, 7 km

An early start to the day and a short climb up the ridge through Bhoj Patra. Bhoj Patra gets its name from the fact that the area has a lot of Bhoj Patra (birch) trees. We will reach to Bakarthach in the afternoon for Lunch.

Day 4: Bakarthach to Beas Kund

An early start to the day and a short climb up the ridge through.We will spend time here at the glacial tarn of Beas Kund – the source of one of the major rivers of north India. The legend is that Sage Vyas, the author of the great epic Mahabharata, meditated here. After a full day of excursion in the Beas Kund plateau, we will come back to Bakarthach in the evening.

Day 5: Bakarthach – Dhundi Glacier – Soland - Burwa – Shikhar Par

After breakfast we start our return trek to Burwa, we will take the same route through Solang Nallah. On getting down, we’ll board the vehicle waiting for us from Dhundi near Road, which will get us to Burwa.

Day 6: Shikhar Par to Manali and departure

In case, anyone drops out during the trek: 

If for some reason a participant has to drop out from the trek on any day then Shikhar Par Adventure will make arrangements for his/ her return upto Manali. A staff will accompany the participant to the Manali. Manali transportation and stay cost at any location including Manali has to be borne by the participant.
